DROOPING PLANTS: A GREEN LOVE!

29/07/2021 | Gardening

A real must for green lovers or aspiring green lovers are the drooping plants!

Maintenance and care of these plants are usually easy: they are excellent for decorating every  room of our home, but they can also be placed in  terraces or balconies. And you don’t need to be an agronomist or a great expert to discover the unique atmosphere that these plants are able to give, if placed indoors or outdoors.

😊 It is a bit like being halfway between a jungle and hanging gardens ❤️Drooping plants can find their habitat in many different locations: on a bookcase, on the handrail of a staircase, on a wall, on a shelf, on a chest, on the window sill.

When we choose the plant it is important that we must always choose the right  exposure to light, check humidity, the average temperature of the space in which we plan to place it and the availability of time we have to take care of it.

These are all elements that must be considered to guarantee to your  plant a healthy growth!

And you? Do you have any drooping plants in your house or on the balcony?

We are preparing a new video with Vanessa about  this topic and today, here on the blog, we are going to show you the ones that are the most loved, according to your messages we’re reading!

Let’s start! 😎

1. Hanging Philodendron. It is not a difficult plant to grow. It resists in environments with different temperatures (even low) and not very bright even if it loves the light. Water  it only when the soil is dry, while it can also be sprayed every day in order to create a habitat similar to that of the plant’s origin. The Philodendron is a plant that can be easily multiplied by cutting, it has a fairly rapid development and does not require excessive care.
Perfect for a philodendron is our BASKET pot, from the Terrae line, with clicked saucer and universal hook.

2. The Nephrolepis Cordifolia fern is also very popular; it is one of the plants that with its leaves gives that little jungle effect that is so loved in your home. This type of fern has thin leaves, a luxuriant shape and remember that in its growth it can reach up to two meters in length! The fern, as we know, loves humid and poorly lit environments. Also for this reason when we often talk about it, we suggest to keep it in the bathroom (if you have enough space!). In summer it can be placed outdoors, in the shade, but when it becomes colder, it must be replaced into the apartment, at 20-24 ° C. It does not tolerate temperatures below 10 ° C!!
Imagine the fern in a MyMood App! This Plastecnic pot has been designed especially for these plants and to make your spaces smart and colorful. The pot has a  with a mat finish, a net for the water reserve and overflow turrets.

3 And finally the ivy! Who doesn’t know this plant? It is as common as  unique! Sometimes we don’t even notice it but there are really many varieties of ivy: green leaf, with white, cream and yellow shades. Small characteristics that outline diversities united by the great resistance of this plant that grows well even in difficult climatic conditions and it  is easy to grow. In summer we suggest you to water it a lot once or twice a week, in winter every 10-15 days. The soil must always be kept moist (but not soggy), wetting as soon as it is dry on the surface. From April to September every 15 days it is always better to add a specific liquid fertilizer for green plants to the irrigation water. The ivy is repotted every year in March. It multiplies by cutting, to be taken in July-August or in autumn.
Usually for such a plant a solution is chosen such as a wall pot from the TERRAE line that allows not only to make the plant feel good but, easy to arrange and fix, it fits perfectly with any taste and style.

In reality there are many other types of plants to talk about and we will give you the details with Vanessa. As you know there, on our IGTV, we love to put our hands in the soil and enjoy it all with the choice of pots that are important to ensure good plant health but also to furnish with taste and satisfaction.

Having chosen the plant in this way, we must choose the pot (and we always have some proposals for you), the most suitable soil and then organize ourselves with watering, perhaps helping us with the saucers for excess water.

IMPORTANT 🌱 If we are at the first experiences and our thumb is not… green  but between black and orange, we suggest you to contact expert nurserymen for advice on the type of pot, soil and fertilizer (if necessary).

And of course, you can also write to us 😊
