Sterlizia 🌟
In September the desire for change, the personal need of a new start and the desire to experience new emotions are more or less widespread and recurring feelings.
Aren’t they? 😁 It happens both in private and in working life.
How many times, back from your holidays, have you thought about changing and renewing something at home too? Have you ever thought about adding touches of color and greenery at home after your trips?
We’ve already talked about it here and this moment is right now coming! 😎
A loved and very requested plant, especially in this period, is the Strelitzia 🌟
It is a perennial, evergreen plant from South Africa and above all characterized by very particular flowers, among the most beautiful that exist in nature.
This plant is also known as the ‘bird of paradise’ starting from the particularity of its flowers in the shape of a heron’s beak, supported by long rigid stems.
Its flowers have three petals: two orange and one, the central one, is blue.
Strelitzia belongs to the Strelitziaceae/ Musaceae family and includes five species:
1. Dawn,
2. Nicolai,
3. Reginae,
4. Caudata,
5. Junea.
The best known and most widespread are strelitzia alba, nicolai and reginae.
We are therefore talking about one of the most elegant flowering plants, splendid in a pot (Plastecnic) as an indoors plant or as a decorative plant on balconies and terraces.
How to grow your strelitzia at home?
Strelitzia is a fairly easy plant to grow with a good ability to adapt to various climatic conditions. Being a tropical Plant, it loves humidity and a mild climate. At home, the advice is to place it in a sunny place, however away from direct light and drafts.
How to grow a strelitzia in the garden?
The most suitable species for cultivation in the garden, taking into account the size, is the nicolai.
In general we can say that the precautions are the same than other plants: 👉 beware of summer heat and low winter temperatures.
Remember that the strelitzia requires a good amount of water, except in the months of June and July, when it enters vegetative rest.
Which pot can we suggest for our Strelitzia?
We are spoiled for choice 🤩 We choose for the planters we like most in color and shape… for example, we imagine strelitzia either in a mymood colored pot or in an elegant and coloured planter from the Oltrevaso collection.
But it doesn’t end here ❤️
Due to the extraordinary beauty of its flowers, strelitzia is a symbol of nobility, majesty and elegance 😊
