As a matter of fact. Plastecnic exports to many foreign Companies. Also for this reason and because the value of People is something we truly believe in, we wanted to talk about Export (and not only) with Claudia Longoni, Export Manager of our Company.
“Iāve started working in Plastecnic after the graduation in the linguistic High SchoolĀ at the age of twenty and at the end of the 80s the company decided to start a process of expansion abroad.Ā In fact, from 1990 on we started to look beyond the border and we began to take part in some International Shows.Ā It’s beenĀ long time ago butĀ I still have very clear memories of our first fairs!Ā Nobody talked about it and yet we decided to show the words “made in Italy” next to our logo on the walls of the first stands exhibitions. I’m talking about the International Shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Lyon Essen, Cologne, Valencia, Birmingham and Chicago.Ā We presented in pole position the first diameters available of the legendary Corinto Pot (part of the Traditional line, still considered an Evergreen today) with the Itaca balcony boxes and the Fenice bowls with clicked saucers.
Abroad, even in the professional sector, these products are seen as a great innovation: Corinto is one of the first plastic pots in “terracotta” color that can replace the classic anonymous black growing pot! Even the saucer with “click” turns out to be a novelty that intrigues the Market “.
People rhymes with enthusiasm and Claudia continues her story of memories, first steps and foreign retailers, highlighting how “bowls in several colors were initially presented for the indoor sector: red, green and white. Oval and round shapes with Greek or small reliefs, some of these designed by the Giugiaro Design studio. These were the years of the plastic boom, a ductile material, relatively young and “revolutionary” compared to the raw materials of the time (think of wood, terracotta or metal) and the presentation of collections of pots with Italian shapes, colors and design attracted the ‘attention of foreign visitors. ”
It was thus that, within a few years, Plastecnic managed to cooperate with distributors and importers wholesalers in the main European countries and even more⦠(United States, Far East, Lebanon, Russia, Argentina, Chile, Brazil ā¦just to mention someā¦). The distributors are basically in the garden and professional sector, but thanks to the participation to Fairs in the Household and hardware field, our products are also required by wholesalers of home products, do-it-yourself or directly from the DIY Chains.
Today Plastecnic exports all over the world confirming a good corporate reputation but also guaranteeing a product of quality and design.
Currently the main customers are wholesalers and distributors (both in the garden, hardware and professional field)., but also DIY chains, chains of garden centers and independent gardens and landscape architects.Ā In France, Germany, Austria and Eastern European countries we also collaborate with Multi-carta Agents both in the garden and DIY field.Ā We have had customers for over thirty years who show great attachment and above all renew their preference towards us despite the continuous offer of the market.Ā This is a source of pride and satisfaction for us ā¤ļø
The foreign market continues to be a goal in the Company vision today.Ā And if digitalization has changed some approaches, the pandemic has revolutionized uses and consumption. There are no more physical distancesā¦. Trips and visits to distributors have given way to continuous video calling and sales have significantly increased š
In addition to loyalty and innovation, Plastecnic aims – says Claudia – especially in Europe where transport costs have a lower incidence, to approach the most important garden centers and support the shops with “Tailor made” means of communication. ” The goal is in fact the one to offer the Vic Project to the most significant garden centers abroad, considering that this approach is having success and giving double-digit results by many Italian customers. ”
FOREIGN DEALERS: PRODUCTS AND SUSTAINABILITY

Many distributors are left their suppliers of pots made of non-100% recyclable plastic (and therefore not sustainable materials) and have turned to us to increase the references to offer to their customers. ”

⢠In the cold countries of Northern Europe, where the sun is often a dream or where whole months are spent without it, there is a tendency to decorate and illuminate the interiors of houses with colored pots and indoor planters with self-irrigation system. Pots of the Mood line, colorful and trendy also available in small diameters for interiors, represent a green solution to brighten up indoors on dark and short winter days. For these Nordic countries we offer a line of balcony boxes equipped with a water reserve net and level meter. A self-irrigation system is required above all by the German-speaking countries!
Specifically for these items we have in the catalog 3 sizes and 3 colors: 60-80 and 100 cm, because … if in Italy the most requested size of the balcony box is 50 cm, in Germany, Austria and Eastern countries they are asking longer Balcony Boxes, with hydroponic system.
⢠In warmer countries, such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or Morocco, the requests are mainly for rotational molding pots in light colors, double-walled, for plant decorations in shopping centers or large showrooms. The colors that are most in demand in hot countries, where the sunlight almost dazzles, are optical white and sand. These are colors that do not heat the pot too much if exposed outdoors and therefore do not make the roots of the plants suffer.
And of course, we are always available to make ātailor madeā productions at the customer’s request: once the minimum order quantity needed for production has been agreed.Ā We can manufacture and supply pots in the colors requested by the customer, even if they are not standard in our catalog. ”
